Job description

The Lead Implementation Specialist (IS) serves as the field execution leader and technical subject matter expert for large-scale data center and hyperscale infrastructure deployments. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects through ownership of quality, execution, and field coordination.

The IS operates across the full project lifecycle, from initial site validation through final closeout. Depending on the scope and complexity of the engagement, the IS flexes between providing remote quality assurance and support for standard deployments, and leading onsite execution for complex, large-scale data center environments.

Owning the outcome is central to this role. The IS is accountable not only for completing installation tasks, but for ensuring work is performed correctly, issues are identified early, and project risks are communicated and escalated to maintain overall project health.

Data Center Testing, Validation & Execution
  • Oversee and support testing and validation activities across fiber, copper, and active infrastructure systems
  • Ensure all testing equipment is available, functional, and properly configured prior to use
  • Inspect equipment condition and remove defective tools from service; escalate replacement needs as required
  • Ensure teams are equipped with required consumables to complete testing activities without delay
Fiber Cabling Validation
  • Verify copper installations across applicable rack environments
  • Validate testing execution using approved tools (e.g., Fluke DSX-5000 where required)
  • Ensure all required test results are completed and properly recorded
  • Validate installation within NA and NB rows
  • Confirm proper cable identification (yellow, blue, green)
  • Verify connectivity using toner testing tools (e.g., Klein Tools)
Active Electrical Cable (AEC) Validation
  • Validate installation within SU racks
  • Confirm cable identification standards (e.g., purple cabling)
  • Verify connectivity through visual inspection of switch indicator lights
  • Lead and own physical fiber patching execution across all deployment stages.
  • Ensure correct fiber routing, bend radius control, slack management, and patching discipline
  • Enforce labeling, port accuracy, and rack‑to‑rack connectivity intent prior to handoff
  • Serve as the escalation point for physical fiber issues impacting deployment progression or rack readiness
Field Leadership & Execution Oversight
  • Act as the primary field point of contact for execution and technical coordination
  • Lead and coordinate vendor partners to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and standards
  • Conduct regular field walkthroughs, including data hall inspections, to verify quality and progress
  • Maintain active engagement with field teams and vendor leads across all active workstreams
  • Identify issues early and provide corrective guidance to maintain execution standards
  • Mentor field technicians and provide troubleshooting support as needed
Ownership, Risk Management & Escalation
  • Own the outcome of field execution from start to finish
  • Identify and communicate risks related to scope, design, schedule, or quality
  • Escalate issues to project leadership to maintain project alignment and prevent delays
  • Ensure field challenges are visible and addressed before impacting delivery
  • Support overall project success beyond individual task completion
Documentation, Reporting & Quality Assurance
  • Maintain accurate records of site surveys, installation progress, testing results, and field activities
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner
  • Review testing results and field reports for inconsistencies or quality concerns
  • Provide regular updates to project leadership on progress, risks, and field conditions
  • Support audits and post-project evaluations with detailed field insights
  • Evaluate vendor performance, workmanship, and adherence to project standards
  • Support vendor onboarding through onsite validation of capabilities
  • Provide structured feedback on vendor quality and reliability
  • Recommend vendor improvements or escalation where performance gaps exist
