Job summary

Supermicro seeks an experienced Staff Data Center Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of high-density data centers for AI, cloud, and hyperscale use. This role shapes electrical standards, OPR, and BOD documentation for projects in the U.S. and globally.

The engineer will coordinate with mechanical, civil, and controls teams, working with consultants, utilities, and contractors to deliver efficient and compliant data centers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Power Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in electrical design for large-scale data centers.
  • Knowledge of safety codes, grounding, and power modeling.
  • Ability to lead engineers, manage vendors and mentor juniors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee electrical design for new and retrofit data centers covering power, grounding, lightning protection, and controls.
  • Create and update global electrical standards, OPRs, and BOD templates for consistency.
  • Prepare and check SLDs, load calculations, power analyses, and arc flash studies.
  • Select equipment including generators, switchgear, transformers, UPS, PDUs, busways, and battery backup or supercapacitors.
  • Lead electrical engineering during construction and commissioning; oversee testing and issue resolution.
