Job summary

Ascent, now part of Wesco, is seeking a Lead System Specialist (Controls & Automation) for data centers. You will test, commission, and diagnose BAS/EPMS systems, configure networks, and analyze performance across DCIM, Electrical, and HVAC systems. You will lead documentation, support system design, and act as SME across client sites.

You will travel up to 50% and coordinate with vendors, project managers, and technicians, ensuring safety and compliance on all critical infrastructure sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical field preferred.
• Technical degree or specialized training in mechanical or HVAC.
• Certification as a controls/electronics/instrumentation technician preferred.
• 4+ years in data center technician or controls technician role.
• Knowledge of BMS and BACNET/LON/MODBUS protocols.
• TCP/IP and RS-485 network configuration experience.
• Reading Visio drawings and installation drawings.
• Strong communication, task management, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Test, commission, and diagnose BAS and EPMS systems (DCIM, Electrical, HVAC).
• Analyze and optimize communication issues across BMS, EPMS, and DCIM.
• Assist in design and configuration of BAS and EPMS per contract docs.
• Lead TCP/IP and RS-485 network configurations on control devices.
• Create and maintain project documentation and trend logs.
• Prepare as-builts with updated markups and closeout docs.
• Coordinate with facility technicians, operators, vendors, and clients.
• Serve as SME for client sites and ensure safety compliance.
• Travel to data center sites and work within project timelines.
