Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Data Architect within Cat Digital to design and evolve enterprise-scale data architecture powering Caterpillar’s digital ecosystem.

You will lead end-to-end solution architectures on the data platform, drive interoperable data products, and partner with engineering and product teams to accelerate time-to-data-value for data consumers enabling applications, analytics, and marketing.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of data architecture principles and blueprint design.
• Strong analytical thinking to identify root causes and craft solutions.
• Proven ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience eliciting and documenting business functionality and non-functional requirements.
• Ability to develop IT blueprints and roadmaps aligned with business goals.

Join Cat Digital’s Data Architecture & Solutioning team to design and evolve enterprise-scale data architecture that powers Caterpillar’s digital ecosystem. You'll lead end-to-end solution architectures on Cat Digital's data platform, drive trusted interoperable data products with focus on data object reusability and partner with engineering and product teams to accelerate time-to-data-value for data consumers enabling applications, analytics, and marketing.

What You Will Do:

• Developing detailed data architecture deliverables to solve business problems.
• Designing data solutions which include system-to-system data flows, conceptual data models, and logical data models.
• Leading the evaluation and deployment of new solutions to add or enhance existing data product capabilities.
• Participating in addressing business requirements for applications and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver digital and data solutions that meet business requirements.

What You Will Have:

• Data Architecture: Extensive knowledge of processes, techniques and factors that affect data architecture; ability to design blueprints on how to integrate data resources for business processes and functional support.
• Analytical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
• Effective Communications: Extensive experience in effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Requirements Analysis: Extensive knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
• Target Architecture: Knowledge of target architecture; ability to develop the IT blueprint and roadmap while aligning the architecture and processes with business strategies and objectives

Considerations For Top Candidates:

• Extensive data modeling experience
• Experience designing/architecting cloud-based solutions (AWS or Azure)
• ETL knowledge preferred
• Snowflake knowledge preferred
• Semantic modeling experience preferred

• This position requires the candidate to be in Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
