Job summary

Magellan Health in the United States is seeking a Manager, Data Analytics, Encounter Operations to lead a team of business analysts and align analytics with customer requirements and business objectives.

The role oversees reporting, data analysis, and workflow management across encounter operations, with responsibility for training staff, delivering timely reports, and supporting strategic decisions through performance metrics and data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree ideally in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Computer Science or related degree.
• 5+ years of direct, relevant experience.
• May consider candidates without a Bachelor's degree who have an additional 4 years of direct experience for a total of 9 years minimum.
• Expert level knowledge of SQL, Qlikview, Tableau or similar business intelligence tools
• MS Suite power user with expertise in visualization tools
• Required experience in a production environment setting up processes to be maintainable and scalable.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of internal clients while maintaining high degrees of accuracy and precision.
• Ability to think creatively; highly-driven and self-motivated.
• Ability to drive results and deliver on multiple tasks.
• Experience building, developing and managing high-performing teams.
• Proven track record of defining and executing key analysis with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of business analysts to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
• Direct workflow to ensure timely and accurate processing to meet contractual requirements.
• Serve as subject matter expert and train new employees.
• Interface with clients and customers to answer inquiries and resolve concerns.
• Conduct root cause analyses to pinpoint problem areas for process improvements across all encounter clients.
• Implement controls to monitor encounter performance.
• Support departmental management with trending and performance data.
• Participate in full life cycle development by performing requirements analysis, process development and testing.
• Develop and document workflow, systems requirements and testing using software development methodology.
• Use SQL queries, data warehouse and internal databases and prepare reports.
• Participate in initiatives that support process improvements and data integration.
• Assume additional responsibilities in the absence of the Manager/Director.
