Based in Plain City, Ohio, Select Sires Inc. is the largest global A.I. cooperative and comprises six farmer-owned and -controlled local organizations in the United States. As the industry leader, it provides highly fertile semen and excellence in service and programs to supply dairy and beef producers with the world's best genetics.

Select Sires, Inc. seeks to hire a Lead Data Analyst. This salary, exempt position reports to the Director of Enterprise Data.

Specific duties and responsibilities of a Lead Data Analyst include, but are not limited to,

  • Supervise and develop a team of data analysts, creating goals and career growth opportunities
  • Build and lead a guild of analysts to mature processes and techniques that overcome common challenges
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, analytical excellence, and rigorous validation
  • Establish practices for proving that solutions work before full deployment
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across business areas, spending routine time understanding their needs
  • Lead structured discovery conversations that translate ambiguous requirements into well-defined, actionable work
  • Guide stakeholders through a disciplined process to identify work that delivers measurable business value
  • Work with the Data Platform Manager to coordinate team priorities and deliver maximum value
  • Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences through clear communication
Design & Deliver
  • Conduct comprehensive data profiling to deeply understand what the data means, including its quality, patterns, and business context
  • Design data models that serve critical business needs, from profiling source data to prototyping dimensional models
  • Collaborate with Data Warehouse Engineers to refine models and develop transforms to populate them
  • Validate and test analytical solutions to prove they work before broader implementation
  • Create compelling reports and dashboards in Power BI that measure what truly matters
  • Define and classify key metrics that drive business decisions
  • Develop data governance frameworks, including data dictionaries, data mapping, and automated profiling
  • Document data meaning and lineage to build organizational knowledge

  • Increase stakeholder ability to use and author their own reports, working toward self‑service analytics
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, deepening the organization's understanding of business processes and data needs
  • Monitor usage and adoption to continuously improve data products

Typical office hours are Monday Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM EST. This position is remote but may require occasional travel to the Plain City office. Work schedules and duties are subject to change to meet departmental needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES OF A LEAD DATA ANALYST
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring data analysts
  • Strong ability to lead structured conversations with stakeholders to discover needs and define actionable, value‑driven work
  • Demonstrated expertise in data profiling and analysis to understand data meaning, quality, and business context
  • Experience with validation and testing methodologies to prove solutions work before deployment
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for data analysis and manipulation
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI, including:
  • Data modeling within Power BI
  • DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
  • Report and dashboard authoring
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and translate business needs into data solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES OF A LEAD DATA ANALYST
  • Experience with data governance platforms such as:
    • Databricks Unity Catalog
    • Microsoft Purview
    • Talend, Integrate.io, Informatica, IBM, or Alation
  • Background in data governance services, including data dictionaries, data mapping, and automated data profiling
  • Experience working in a remote‑first environment
  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development and Agile concepts, philosophy and disciplines.
  • Knowledge of sales, inventory and supply chain analytics
  • Knowledge of agricultural technology, genetics, or related industries
