Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, through Optum, seeks a Lead Software Engineer in Eden Prairie to design and optimize scalable data pipelines and platforms supporting advanced analytics and AI/ML initiatives. Partial telecommuting is allowed, with the position reporting to the Eden Prairie office.

You will drive cloud-native solutions on Azure/AWS, mentor engineers, ensure data governance and security, and advance CI/CD practices across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of data engineering and software development experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and data pipelines.
• Strong Python, SQL, and PySpark proficiency.
• Experience with AI/ML integration and Gen AI techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines and platforms.
• Lead AI/ML data engineering initiatives including synthetic data generation and data mapping.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable data access, governance, and lineage.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to reusable data engineering frameworks and accelerators.
• Oversee CI/CD, data quality, and data security across engineering teams.
