Job Description
$10,000 Sign-on Bonus

  • Internal employees and previous employees hired within 1 year are not eligible for the Sign-on Bonus.

The Lead Cytotechnologist reflects NM's mission, vision, and values, adhering to our Code of Ethics and Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist management in organizing and directing daily activities.
  • Train and mentor cytotechnologists and staff, including performing 100% quality control rescreen of new hires, providing computer education, and reviewing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities related to diagnosis, administration, IT, and customer service.
  • Contribute to quality control and assurance programs.
  • Perform FNA training and annual competency assessments for cytotechnologists.
  • Complete colleague competency assessments.
  • Organize department workflow, review pending and work lists, and assist with bench assignments.
  • Act as a department resource in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Perform routine cytology screening on gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and FNA specimens.
  • Maintain diagnostic screening percentages at CAP standards, including ASCUS rate and ASC:SIL ratio.
  • Complete all competency assessments timely.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Lab Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health with Cytotechnologist (CT) (ASCP) certification. Proof of education as per CLIA guidelines required.
  • Must meet federal licensing requirements for high complexity testing (CLIA) and accreditation standards (TJC, CAP).
