Lead Customer Service Specialist (Full Time/Evening Shift)

Penn Medicine is committed to providing exceptional care, conducting innovative research, and educating future medical leaders. Working at this leading academic medical center involves collaboration with top professionals across disciplines.

Position: Full Time (40 hours/week), 2nd shift, 2:45 pm - 11:15 pm, Monday to Friday. No weekends or holidays. Premium pay of $1.50/hour for ED registration.

Position Summary:

Supports daily operations of Patient Access departments, including employee training, reporting, and quality assurance. Acts as a first-line resource for staff, resolving registration issues, and overseeing workload and operational goals.

Essential Functions:
  • Serves as primary resource for registration staff, maintaining knowledge of procedures and staff coverage.
  • Performs registration duties including insurance verification and scheduling.
  • Provides training and feedback to staff, maintains manuals, and disseminates policy updates.
  • Addresses registration and scheduling issues, reviews authorization denials, and supports performance reviews.
  • Ensures operational efficiency, manages breaks, and meets daily goals.
  • Acts as point person for software and process questions, facilitating issue resolution.
Secondary Functions:
  • Assists with hiring, special projects, and management reports.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience as a Customer Service Specialist.
  • One year in Revenue Cycle in healthcare.
  • Clerical or administrative support experience in a customer-focused organization.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and healthcare provider status with Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Epic EMR experience.
  • Associates degree preferred.
