The Colorado Springs Airport is seeking a Lead Custodian to join their dynamic team! As a lead custodian, you will perform various janitorial duties and support leadership by managing team scheduling, assigning duties, training, ensuring safety, and compliance.

Work Details:

Location: Colorado Springs Airport, 7770 Milton E Proby Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80916

Type: Full-time, 40 hours/week

Salary: $25.87 - $31.06 per hour, including shift differential

Schedule: 3rd Shift, 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM

Requirements:

The candidate must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history check as required by TSA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Train new custodians on cleaning methods and procedures
• Oversee operations across all shifts at airport concourses and terminals
• Inspect custodial work for quality and areas for improvement
• Maintain cleanliness and condition of facilities, addressing cleaning, safety, and maintenance needs
• Perform cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, waxing, scrubbing, vacuuming
• Sanitize bathrooms, clean windows
• Lift and move heavy items using proper body mechanics
• Manage supplies and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency
• Operate snowplow for seasonal weather
• Communicate effectively with staff, management, and the public

• Knowledge of safety practices, cleaning procedures, and custodial equipment
• Leadership and team motivation skills
• Ability to plan and oversee custodial work
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to follow instructions and safety policies
• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks for extended periods
• Experience with performance management and safety inspections
• Ability to operate equipment like scissor lifts and snowplows

Education: High school diploma or GED. Experience: 5 years in custodial or related fields. Valid Colorado driver’s license required within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading teams, training, and supporting staff
• Proficiency in floor care and high-traffic facility maintenance
• Snow removal experience
• Facilities and grounds maintenance experience
