PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, supervise the maintenance and custodial services at assigned school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED required
  • Licenses: Valid Georgia driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk most of the day, lift and carry 20-30 pounds (up to 100 pounds on occasion), push or pull similar weights, bend and stoop frequently, work off ladders and lifts, and handle chemicals and aerosols safely.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in custodial work, preferably in a school system.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Effective communication and training skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials
  • Basic computer skills, including email and Word
  • Neat, professional appearance, positive attitude, and demeanor
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Train and lead custodians in building maintenance and cleaning
  • Order and manage cleaning supplies and inventory efficiently
  • Coordinate with custodial supervisor and vendors for supplies and equipment
  • Maintain an adequate supply of bulbs and perform general building maintenance such as changing ceiling tiles and light bulbs
  • Organize and file office materials, including MSDS, manuals, and safety information
  • Ensure safe storage and disposal of supplies and chemicals, complying with OSHA standards
  • Develop and adjust cleaning schedules to optimize coverage and respond to emergencies
  • Enter and monitor work orders for repairs and maintenance
  • Report safety issues and ensure compliance with safety protocols
  • Assign responsibilities for building opening and securing
  • Participate in the school recycling program
  • Perform custodial work for at least 50-75% of the day
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal, Custodial Services Manager, or Maintenance Coordinator
