Job summary

Goodwill Southern California is seeking a Lead Custodian to support custodial operations across assigned facilities. This hands-on role coordinates daily work, maintains quality standards, and ensures safe, clean facilities while advancing our mission.

The Lead Custodian will supervise no formal staff, but will guide coworkers, train new personnel, and collaborate with the Project Manager to address issues and ensure consistent service excellence.

Qualifications

• Prior custodial/janitorial experience required.
• Experience leading or coordinating work preferred.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment, chemicals, cleaning procedures, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and periodic custodial services including cleaning, sanitation, floor and carpet care, restroom cleaning, trash removal, window cleaning, and other tasks.
• Coordinate daily custodial assignments, work areas, schedules, and coverage based on requirements.
• Provide guidance on cleaning standards, equipment, chemicals, safety practices, and site requirements to custodial staff.
• Conduct routine quality-control inspections and document results using company systems.
• Identify service issues and communicate concerns to the Project Manager.
• Assist with custodial orientation and on-the-job training.
• Support safety procedures, PPE, contract requirements, and company standards.
• Maintain professional relationships with employees, customers, clients, government personnel, and stakeholders.
• Travel to assigned locations up to 50% of the time.
