Job summary

Verde Clean in Avondale, Arizona is looking for a dedicated Lead Custodian to ensure our facilities remain clean and safe. In this role, you will transport, clean, and maintain various spaces while promoting a culture of safety and sustainability.

Candidates should have at least a year of experience in custodial work and a high school diploma. We offer a supportive environment focused on personal growth and community impact, with pay ranging from $19 to $20 per hour.

Lead Custodian

Founded in 2019 and proudly minority‑owned, Verde Clean delivers eco‑friendly facility services with a strong focus on sustainability, safety, and social impact. From schools to offices, we help people across the U.S. live and work in healthier environments—and we give back through paid volunteer time and community engagement.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 3pm to 11:30pm

Pay: $19–$20 per hour

What You’ll Do

• Daily Cleaning: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors, surfaces, restrooms, and more.
• Restock & Refill: Keep restrooms and supply areas stocked with paper goods, soap, and sanitizers.
• Monitor Safety: Identify and report hazards to ensure a secure environment.
• Support the Team: Assist coworkers and interact professionally with staff and visitors.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience: 1+ year in janitorial or custodial work preferred; leadership experience a plus.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Skills: Knowledge of cleaning tools and safety procedures; must be reliable, detail‑oriented, and a team player.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously throughout a shift on various surfaces, climb stairs, lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently (up to 35 lbs. infrequently), push and maneuver janitorial carts up to 25 lbs. frequently (up to 35 lbs. infrequently), bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, reach overhead up to 8 ft., use step stalls or ladders; manual dexterity for operating vacuum, scrubbers, steam cleaners; identify areas requiring cleaning, inspect surfaces for soil and residue, read product labels and SDS; work in varying temperatures, outdoor areas, and high‑humidity areas; maintain consistent physical output with standard rest breaks.
