Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a Lead CT Technologist to manage daily imaging operations and mentor staff. You will ensure quality patient care, oversee exams and staffing, and coordinate with physicians, radiologists and administration.

Ideal candidates will have ARRT-CT and ARRT-R credentials, a radiology degree, at least 1 year of lead experience, and a commitment to safety and accuracy in a busy diagnostic imaging department.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• ARRT-CT certification required.
• ARRT-R radiography certification required.
• Graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
• 1 year Lead or Supervisory experience preferred.
• Call rotation is required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate staffing and flex with volume.
• Coordinate daily technologist assignments.
• Complete exams and update taken status.
• Check daily ancillary charge reports.
• Operate department equipment safely and properly.
• Teach and mentor radiology students.
• Apply proper exposure techniques and positioning.
• Maintain radiation safety for staff and patients.
• Administer contrast per age/weight guidelines.
• Follow QA procedures for equipment and accessories.
• Participate in holiday and on-call schedules.
• Communicate with patients, doctors, and coworkers.
• Document exam data in Meditech and verify images in PACS.
• Manage daily department productivity and supplies.

The Lead CT Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures ordered by the physician. Lead CT technologist are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a diagnostic/therapeutic environment. Serve as role models and clinical resource for the staff. Respond in a timely manner to requests for information or follow-up with director/manager, physician, staff or patient issues.
Job Summary And Qualifications
What you will do:

• Assure adequate staffing according to volume, flexing when necessary.
• Coordinates daily technologist assignments.
• Assures that all exams are completed and put in taken status.
• Accurately checks daily ancillary charge report.
• Operates all department equipment safely and properly.
• Teaches and mentors radiology students.
• Implements proper exposure techniques and positioning.
• Practices radiation safety to self, patient and co-workers.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform contrast media administration according to age/weight specific guidelines.
• Demonstrates basic of Dose Watch.
• Follows proper procedures for quality controls related to equipment and accessories.
• Participates in the holiday and on call work schedule.
• Follows department protocols for communicating with patients, doctors and coworkers.
• Transportation of patients to and from the CT dept. safely.
• Demonstrates knowledge of drugs, their actions, side effects and contraindications for administration.
• Demonstrates proper documentation concerning patient’s history, including lab values prior to contrast administration.
• Exhibits the ability to start and maintain IV access.
• Accurately follows physician orders, documents completion of exam in Meditech, scans documents and verifies images in PACS.
• Creates daily staffing grid.
• Manages supplies in a cost-effective manner (e.g. supply scanning, crediting supplies not used, overuse of supplies, etc).
• Takes action that goes beyond job requirement to meet patient/customer/department needs.
• Helps manages daily department productivity based on patient volume.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• (ARRT-CT) Computed Tomography
• (ARRT-R) Radiography
• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology.
• 1 year of Lead or Supervisory experience preferred
• Call rotation

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB‑GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
