Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking a Principal Cryogenic System Designer in Broomfield, CO. The role leads the architecture and development of cryogenic systems for next-generation quantum computing platforms, guiding from concept through production and collaborating with global partners.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in high-tech R&D or complex manufacturing, with 3+ years in cryogenic equipment design, and can travel up to 25%. U.S. citizenship or status is required for national security reasons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree minimum.
• 10+ years of experience in a high-technology R&D and/or low volume, high complexity manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of experience designing or building cryogenic equipment.
• U.S. citizenship or national status required due to national security considerations.
• U.S. Person: citizen, permanent resident, or held status as refugee/asylum seeker.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical architecture and product roadmap for cryogenic systems & hardware for Quantinuum's quantum platforms.
• Lead the design, prototyping, testing, and validation of cryogenic systems from concept through production deployment.
• Serve as the technical authority for cryogenic system design and key engineering tradeoffs.
• Drive hands-on experimental development, prototype builds, test campaigns, and performance characterization.
• Lead cross-functional teams to develop and deliver cryogenic products.
• Define industrialization strategies, manufacturing process development, supplier engagement, and production scale-up.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices to improve quality and execution.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and support long-term technology strategy.
• Collaborate with vendors to plan deliverables and manufacturing.
