Job description

Lead Crew Member - Street Maintenance

Concrete Crew

Starting Salary: $40,851

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform general semi-skilled labor tasks. Employees in this classification perform tasks requiring physical strength and stamina. Work involves skilled labor tasks in Street Maintenance, including operating various trucks and heavy equipment to accomplish assigned tasks.

Additionally, a Lead Crew Member will operate Street Maintenance vehicles, including dump trucks for concrete removal. Duties include setting up areas for concrete repairs on sidewalks, demolition, forming, staking out curb and gutter, pouring new walks and curb and gutter, and replacing or installing new brick walks. The Lead Crew Member also assists with training employees on such projects.

Auxiliary duties include working during emergencies, weather events, and snow removal operations. Incumbents must perform the full range of duties as assigned with only general instruction and supervision. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisory staff, and customers. A valid Class B Va. Commercial Driver’s License is required, along with criminal background and driving record checks.
