Job summary

The County of San Diego's Office of County Counsel has an opening for PRINCIPAL DEPUTY COUNTY COUNSEL - ASSESSOR/RECORDER/COUNTY CLERK. The role provides legal support to the ARCC and handles AAB matters, writs, and policy reviews.

A mix of in-office and remote work may be available, with in-person attendance for AAB hearings. The ideal candidate has California State Bar admission, substantial civil litigation experience, and strong research and writing skills.

Qualifications

• Experience advising on assessment practices and tax/Revenue and Tax Code.
• Ability to handle writs of administrative mandate and related litigation.
• Strong research and writing skills with courtroom presence.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated legal support to ARCC on assessment matters.
• Represent ARCC at AAB hearings and prepare witnesses.
• Draft proposed findings and handle related litigation tasks.
• Review policies, contracts, and public records requests.
