Job summary

WEX is seeking a Senior Managing Counsel for Corporate Payments to lead a legal team supporting the Americas. You will negotiate complex customer and partner agreements, provide product‑lifecycle guidance, and collaborate with Commercial, Product, Marketing, Finance, Risk and Compliance.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of legal practice, a J.D., and in‑house experience, with strong leadership and contract negotiation skills to drive strategic initiatives and process improvements.

Qualifications

• J.D. from accredited law school.
• 8+ years of legal practice, ideally in-house; licensed in at least one U.S. state.
• Extensive experience structuring, drafting and negotiating diverse commercial transactions (financial services, digital payments, technology).
• Experience in payments/financial services laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of product lifecycle from development to launch and commercialization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of legal professionals supporting WEX Corporate Payments matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate customer and partner agreements, ensuring policy compliance.
• Provide legal guidance across product lifecycle from development to commercialization, including terms for apps and APIs.
• Identify and manage legal risks and issues, elevating where needed.
• Oversee outside counsel and manage relationships with stakeholders across Commercial, Product, Marketing, Finance and Risk.
