Job summary

Bechtel Infrastructure’s Renewables & Clean Power business line seeks qualified project controls professionals for forthcoming combined cycle power plant projects in multiple locations across the United States. Initial work may be in Reston, VA with relocation to project sites upon award.

You will lead a team responsible for cost estimating, analysis, and control, communicating trends to senior stakeholders and supporting budgeting, reporting, and dashboarding efforts.

Qualifications

  • Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 10–13 years of relevant experience or 14–17 years total.
  • Experience managing cost engineering functions including cost estimation, control, and analysis.
  • Strong proficiency with Ecosys, Hyperion, and MS Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team for cost estimating, analysis, and control across the project.
  • Prepare cost reports and forecasts, including input for the PFSR.
  • Establish budgets based on approved cost estimates.
  • Communicate cost trends to management.
  • Develop dashboards and presentations for cost engineering.
  • Support non-routine tasks as needed.

Project Overview

Bechtel Infrastructure’s Renewables & Clean Power business line is seeking qualified project controls professionals for forthcoming combined cycle power plant projects planned in multiple locations across the United States including Texas, Wyoming, Ohio, I and Indianna. The project teams will be initially based in Reston, VA; following contract award, selected candidates will relocate to designated project sites. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the reemerging power business supporting our customers and society. Successful applicants must be willing to start out on short-term assignments in Reston, Virginia and then mobilize to project locations upon award.

Job Summary

In this role, you will lead a team and be accountable for project cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. You will be responsible for communicating cost trends for management attention, supporting project organizational and administrative activities, and ensuring work is completed as scheduled. Your data analysis will provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges, and your leadership will be essential to project success. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, you will also have regular interfaces with senior internal and customer stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the cost estimating, analysis, and control activities for the entirety of the project, requiring a high degree of technical/skilled experience
  • Responsible for cost reporting and financial forecasting, including input for the PFSR
  • Establishes project control budgets based on approved project cost estimate
  • Identifies and communicates cost trends for management attention
  • Supports project organizational and administrative activities
  • Works on tasks of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors
  • Implements measurement systems for given processes, analyzes performance metric results, and identifies opportunities for improvements
  • Prepares, coordinates, and directs cost engineering presentations and dashboards
  • Analyzes data to provide innovative solutions to cost engineering challenges
  • Supports non-routine/ad-hoc tasks, as required
Education And Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge And Skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing cost engineering functions, including cost estimation, cost control, and cost analysis, both onsite and within the home office. Proven ability to establish comprehensive criteria for Project Controls activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in Ecosys, Hyperion, and Microsoft Office software applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Possesses advanced statistical knowledge, including regression analysis, variance estimation, and correlation, with a strong capability to apply statistical theory to real-world scenarios.
  • Experienced in providing leadership, personnel administration, and training for both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Exhibits strong oral and written communication skills, with a proven track record of presenting cost engineering information effectively to management and clients.
  • Adept at identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex problems.
