The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is seeking a professional Criminal Justice Trainer 3 to join the Basic Training Division in King County. The role delivers curriculum for COA, COEA, JCOA, JSA, and MCPA, using classroom instruction, practical exercises, and simulations to prepare corrections professionals for public service.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in Corrections or Juvenile Detention with potential for applying physical force.
  • Seven years of experience in Corrections or Juvenile Detention with potential for applying physical force.
  • Two years of lead or supervisory experience of criminal justice personnel.
  • Understanding of adult teaching and learning methods.
  • Ability to report information clearly, completely, and accurately both verbally and in writing.
  • No sustained use of force complaints in the past three years.
  • Able to model the Guardian Philosophy in class daily.
  • Strong work ethic, self-directed, and team-oriented.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, diversity, implicit bias, and learning needs.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitation and delivery of agency approved curriculum including classroom, practical, and mock scenarios.
  • Lead TAC Officer roles across multiple academies with possible concurrent sessions.
  • Train and mentor students guided by policy, rules, and agency values.
  • Model trustworthy and ethical professional behavior.
  • Maintain order and motivate classes; support contracted TAC Officers.
  • Communicate with employing agencies regarding performance and training needs.
  • Maintain student records and track injuries per agency processes.
