Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a dedicated Correctional Officer at Mountain View Correctional Institution in Avery County. Qualifications

• High School or GED diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Officer, or two years of experience as Correctional Officer II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
• Must pass criminal background check and successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and leadership within Mountain View Correctional Institution.
• Maintain security and safety operations to protect staff and offenders.
• Supervise offenders and manage incidents as they arise.
• Engage in shift operations management and ensure policy compliance.
• Provide training and staff development support as needed.
• Communicate and report on institutional operations and incidents.
