Job summary

State of Indiana seeks aCorrectional Captain to lead religious and spiritual programs at a large facility. You will supervise staff, interpret facility policies, and ensure safe operations while delivering compassionate pastoral care.

Position emphasizes theology expertise, public speaking, and strong ethics with opportunities to coordinate with external clergy and community partners. Eligible for extensive state benefits and compensation package.

Qualifications

• Master's of Divinity degree or completion of a graduate training program in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, or Comparative Religions.
• Bachelor's degree in a social/behavioral science that includes 20 credits in Pastoral Psychology/Pastoral Counseling (transcripts required).
• Or six years ministry experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee religious and spiritual programs and ensure they meet standards.
• Prepare and conduct weekly worship services.
• Coordinate visits with offenders by outside clergy.
• Notify offenders of family deaths or other personal tragedies.
• Arrange transportation for offenders to attend funerals.
• Liaise between the facility and community religious resources.
• Conduct counseling sessions with offenders as needed.
• Know community programs relevant to religious/spiritual area.
• Evaluate volunteer program performances.
