Job summary

Southern LINC is seeking a Core Networking Engineer to design, implement, and operate the core IP network within its datacenters. The role blends networking expertise to plan, procure, install, document, and maintain mission‑critical 4G/LTE packet core systems.

You will lead and mentor the IP Networking team, work with the datacenter operations group to monitor and optimize switches, routers, firewalls, and telecom systems, and enforce cybersecurity and engineering standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in electrical/computer engineering or CS.
• 4+ years designing/implementing IP routing, switching, VPN, firewalls.
• Experience collaborating with vendors to design and install networks.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design future virtualized network and server infrastructure.
• Maintain and optimize core network infrastructure and capacity.
• Manage capital projects with budget and timelines.
• Evaluate new hardware and software technologies via proofs-of-concept.
• Collaborate with IT Security on risk assessments and remediation.
