Help More People Move Without Pain

At KURU Footwear, we believe your feet shouldn't dictate your life. Our mission is simple: help people get back to doing what they love by creating footwear designed to relieve pain, improve comfort, and support every step.

We're looking for an experienced Lead Copywriter to own and evolve the voice of KURU-shaping how our brand sounds, feels, and is remembered.

This role is equal parts writer and strategist. You'll lead creative concepts, define how KURU communicates across every brand touchpoint, and write the high-priority copy that brings those ideas to life. If you're a strategic thinker with a sharp editorial instinct who loves turning brand strategy into language people actually feel, this could be the role for you.

Benefits & Perks
  • Hybrid work schedule
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Employee referral bonuses
  • Education assistance
  • Employee discount on KURU footwear
  • 30–60% discounts on hundreds of brands through ExpertVoice
What You'll Do
  • Define and evolve KURU's voice and tone across digital, physical, and experiential brand touchpoints.
  • Lead creative concept development for campaigns, launches, and key brand moments, anchoring each in a clear and compelling idea.
  • Write and edit high-priority copy yourself-not just assign briefs or manage other writers.
  • Translate brand positioning and strategy into language that connects with people.
  • Set the standard for copy quality across video, web, email, paid media, product naming, packaging, and retail.
  • Collaborate closely with the Art Director, designers, video team, marketing channels, eCommerce, and merchandising to ensure copy and visual creative work together seamlessly.
  • Build and maintain a living voice and tone guide that provides the broader team with a clear, usable foundation.

  • Partner with the Head of Brand and marketing leadership to push KURU's language into more distinctive, ownable territory.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with employees, management, executives, vendors, customers, and external partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 8+ years of experience in copywriting, brand writing, or creative direction, ideally within DTC, lifestyle, footwear, or consumer health; or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual range, including brand storytelling, campaign work, product copy, and long‑form content-not just taglines.
  • Experience owning or significantly shaping a brand voice, rather than only executing within an established voice.
  • Fluency writing across channels and formats, including short‑form, long‑form, digital, and print.
  • Sharp editorial instincts and the ability to write clearly and effectively under pressure.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and adapt effectively to change.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Strong time‑management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in eCommerce or performance‑driven environments.
  • Experience within DTC, lifestyle, footwear, or consumer health brands.
  • Experience developing, evolving, or maintaining brand voice and tone guidelines.
Physical & Work Requirements

Work is generally performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to sit for extended periods, use a computer, communicate by telephone, and perform repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements.

The position may also require feeling the attributes of objects, grasping, pushing, and reaching with the arms or hands and occasionally moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Join KURU

At KURU, you'll have the opportunity to shape how a growing brand sounds, feels, and is remembered. You'll help define the language behind campaigns, products, experiences, and everyday customer interactions while partnering with creative and marketing teams to bring the KURU brand to life.

If you're an experienced brand writer who can think strategically, develop big creative ideas, and still loves getting into the details of the copy itself, we'd love to hear from you.
