Job Description

The Lead Cook is responsible for preparing food using standard recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, handling, and sanitation procedures. The role involves safely handling knives and kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers. The Lead Cook may supervise staff and delegate responsibilities. Responsibilities may vary depending on location, client requirements, and business needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Schedule and assign daily work activities to staff, supervising task completion.
  • Train and guide staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation, and cooking methods.
  • Cook and prepare food following recipes and production guidelines.
  • Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients through measuring, chopping, and other techniques.
  • Use food utensils safely, including knives.
  • Operate kitchen equipment like ovens, stoves, slicers, and mixers.
  • Cook using various methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming.
  • Garnish and portion food following guidelines.
  • Store food properly following safety policies.
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintain excellent customer service with a positive attitude.
  • Follow safety policies, including food safety and sanitation.
  • Ensure security of company assets.
  • Produce and maintain work schedules and production records.
