We are seeking a Lead Cook with a strong positive attitude toward customer service. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents. Job Description:

The Cook prepares palatable and proper-portioned food for all residents and guests in accordance with production sheets, standardized recipes, preparation methods, portion control, time schedules and sanitary standards as well as serving procedures.

  • Prepares food items on the menus for residents, guests, and personnel according to the Food Production sheets; following modified diets in accordance with diet spread as approved by the Consulting Dietician.
  • Takes a lead and serves food from the production line during meal periods. Follows serving size standards and presentation guidelines.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and strong communication skills with cooks, managers, and front of house staff.
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintains work area and keeps the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Must have the ability to follow diet instructions and menus, know basic methods of preparing food in quantities, and be familiar with seasoning requirements.
  • Must have a general knowledge of routine diets or where to find the necessary information.
  • Must know how to operate kitchen equipment and use utensils to greatest advantage.
