Job summary

Self-Realization-Fellowship-Church in Encinitas seeks an experienced cook for the SRF retreat and ashram kitchen. The role entails preparing entrées, multiple vegetables, and a variety of salads with professional presentation, plus daily prep of fruits, juices, and desserts.

The incumbent will also prepare soups, breads for supper, and manage bulk quantities, inventory, and kitchen sanitation. A food handler certificate is preferred and culinary training highly valued, with 4+ years kitchen

Qualifications

• Background in large quantity food preparation or restaurant experience.
• A Food Handler’s Certificate preferred.
• Culinary school background highly preferred.
• 4+ years kitchen experience.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to follow quantity recipes and daily calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare entrées and two vegetables.
• Prepare salads with professional presentation.
• Daily prep of breakfast fruits, juices and desserts.
• Prepare soup, entrées and breads for suppers.
• Order and stock food for all dining areas and maintain rotation and dating of items.
• Clean and sanitize work areas and wash wares by hand.
• Operate standard quantity food service equipment safely.
• Follow SRF policies and SRF guidelines for appearance and taste.
