Job summary

Tigg's Canteen Services is hiring a Lead Cook for the Ottawa County Jail in West Olive, MI. This full-time permanent role offers a starting pay of $22.00 per hour and a schedule around 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with varying days.

The Lead Cook will supervise and guide inmates, prepare meals from company recipes, and ensure food safety and kitchen efficiency in a structured environment. Weekend/holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lead, instruct, and assist with kitchen operations.
• Ability to read and follow company recipes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
• Ability to obtain clearance approval into the facility.

Responsibilities

• Leading, instructing, and assisting inmates in the kitchen.
• Preparing meals according to company recipes.
• Food preparation and cooking.
• Baking.
• Kitchen clean-up.
• Following company procedures and food service standards.
• Working effectively within a structured correctional environment.
• Safely handling and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
