Job summary

Elderwood at Cheektowaga is actively seeking a Cook / Dining Services Supervisor to join our dietary team. This full-time role blends hands-on meal preparation with frontline leadership, two to three days per week as a supervisor and the rest as a cook, with an every-other-weekend rotation.

You will assist the Director of Dining Services in daily operations, uphold recipes and sanitary standards, and ensure quality meals for residents in a nursing setting.

Qualifications

• Blend of hands-on meal prep and frontline leadership.
• Ensure recipes, menus, production needs are met.
• Comply with food-safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and resident dietary requirements.
• Oversee daily kitchen and dining-service operations in the Director's absence.
• Provide direction and support to dietary team members during shifts.
• Coordinate meal preparation and service for quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Reinforce food-safety, sanitation, infection-control, and workplace-safety procedures.
• Monitor kitchen organization, food quality, portioning, presentation, and cleanliness.
• Assist with department oversight when the Director is absent.
• Respond to changing priorities and keep the team organized during busy meal periods.
• Lead by example with reliability, professionalism, teamwork, and attention to detail.
