Job summary

Avera Holy Family Hospital in the United States is seeking a kitchen teammate to support Nutrition Services. You will help prepare meals for patients, their families and staff, follow recipes, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

The role includes coordinating tickets, managing supplies, and assisting leadership to maintain smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate has 0-6 months experience, HS diploma or GED, and ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities

  • Leads food production function in the department for meal service and maintains records.
  • Follows standardized recipes and food preparation policies to ensure quality and nutrition.
  • Maintains inventory levels and keeps costs within budgeted guidelines.
  • Assists with staff work schedules and acts as main contact for scheduling conflicts.
  • Provides support to the Manager in their absence.
  • Ensures proper cleaning and safe storage of foods and equipment.

A Brief Overview

Accountable for providing front-line support to the Nutrition Services Manager and staff while also performing a variety of tasks and operations to prepare and cook foods for patients, their families and/or staff following standard practices and procedures, complying with regulatory requirements

What you will do
  • Leads food production function in the department as required for meal service: compiling orders, appropriately assemble and deliver tickets/menus, supply ordering updating documents/reports, invoices and maintain records.
  • Follows standardized recipes and food preparation policies to achieve department objectives of quality and nutrition.
  • Maintains food and supply inventory levels, keeping costs within budgeted guidelines.
  • Assists with the organization of staff work schedules and act as main contact for employee conflicts with schedule.
  • Provides support to staff in absence of Manager.
  • Makes recommendations to leadership for future patient, cafeteria and special function menus.
  • Ensures that daily cleaning is complete within department including, but not limited to individual work areas, other equipment used and storage areas in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Ensures safe storage and preparation of foods, including correct temperatures of foods that are held and stored.
  • Works with maintenance to ensure that equipment is working properly.
