Job summary

Avera Prince of Peace-Transitional Care in Sioux Falls is seeking a food service team member to prepare and serve meals for patients, employees and visitors. You will follow approved menus, meet sanitation standards and deliver meals on schedule while supporting a positive, patient-centered experience.

The role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, and adherence to safety policies. High school diploma or GED and ServSafe certification are preferred; training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work the specified hours and perform each essential function.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and hear/distinguish speech.
  • Demonstrates safety and sanitation awareness as required by policies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all food items for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Meet standards for quality, sanitation, and efficiency.
  • Deliver products according to schedule and assist with menu recommendations.
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintain a sanitary workstation.
  • Provide excellent customer service with approved scripts.

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience.

$18.75 - $23.00

Position Highlights

Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, 32 hours 2 weeks

Every other weekend, every other holiday

A Brief Overview

Responsible for preparation, cooking, service, and distribution of food in accordance with approved menus for patients/residents, employees and visitors.

What You Will Do
  • Prepares all food items for patients/resident, meal service, staff, cafeteria, and special functions.
  • Meets standards established by appropriate leader for food preparation, quality, sanitation, and efficiency.
  • Delivers all products according to time schedule set for the specific item.
  • Makes recommendations to leader for all menus.
  • Completes daily assigned cleaning in accordance with approved standards.
  • Responsible for delivering excellent customer service by utilizing the appropriate scripts developed for Food Services.
  • Ensures that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Completes additional tasks as assigned.

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Preferred Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • ServSafe Certificate - National Restaurant Association Upon Hire
  • Less than 1 year Food service/cooking related education and /or training.
