Job summary

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook at Genesee County Jail, Flint, Michigan. You will lead and instruct kitchen staff, ensuring meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and to company recipes in a structured correctional environment.

Responsibilities include supervising inmates in the kitchen, cooking and baking to standard, maintaining a clean work area, and coordinating daily operations. Weekend and holiday availability and early shift flexibility are required.

Tigg's Canteen Services is currently seeking a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook at Genesee County Jail, Flint, Michigan.

As a Lead Cook, you will play an important role in the daily operation of the kitchen. You will assist with leading and instructing kitchen staff while helping ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and according to company standards and recipes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced food service environment and is comfortable working within a structured correctional facility.

What You'll Do

Requirements

Applicants Must Have

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts and hours between 4:00 AM and 6:30 PM.
• The ability to obtain clearance approval to enter the facility.

Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person!

Salary: $20.00 per hour
