Job summary

Aegis Living is seeking a Lead Cook to provide quality meals for our senior residents. You will manage daily kitchen tasks, prepare meals using a variety of techniques, and support the Culinary Services team. This role offers growth opportunities, a defined career path, and a schedule that avoids late nights.

You’ll supervise in absence of the Culinary Services Director and help train new staff. Ideal candidates have 3+ years cooking, experience with inventory, and are 18+.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Cook or Line/Prep Cook.
• Preferred experience as a Sous Chef/Lead Cook.
• Preferred experience managing food inventory.
• Must be 18+ years of age.
• Food preparation and production experience required.
• Ability to meet all health requirements.
• Must be willing to take 2-step TB test.

Responsibilities

• Preparing meals.
• Supports a disciplined environment and provides supervision in the absence of the Culinary Services Director.
• Manages food inventory appropriately and sets up work areas/stations with all necessary supplies in advance of meal service.
• Performs portion control and minimizes waste to keep cost within forecasted ranges for recipes.
• Understands and maintains all necessary documentation, including but not limited to time/temperature logs, menus, invoices, etc.
• Upholding cleanliness standards
• Helping serve residents
• Train and mentor new employees
