Job summary

The City of College Park is seeking a hands-on Supervising Custodian to lead the convention center housekeeping crew on an assigned shift. The role requires independent judgment to apply established policies and to manage recurring cleaning tasks.

You will train staff, coordinate with Event Coordinators, ensure safety, operate cleaning equipment, inspect work, and handle inventory while meeting program needs, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of supervisor experience in custodial or related work; equivalent education/experience accepted.
• Experience in janitorial maintenance and supplies.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience communicating with diverse communities and building cooperative relationships.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and understanding of organizational workflows.
• Extensive hours and weekends will be required.
• Pre-employment screening: criminal background check and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of the housekeeping crew for the convention center.
• Provides staff training; helps correct deficiencies.
• Oversees and inspects the work of the crew; ensures timely completion.
• Reviews BEO and coordinates with Event Coordinators for cleaning requirements.
• Directs housekeeping staff on facility cleaning, interior and exterior.
• Responds to emergency service requests.
• Operates cleaning equipment and trains others in its use.
• Stores equipment safely and in proper locations.
• Performs daily convention center inspections to confirm task completion.
• Orders and maintains cleaning supply inventory.
• Performs a full range of cleaning duties as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
