Job summary

Fluidstack in Austin, TX is hiring for a thermofluids controls engineer to own the machine control architecture and test rigs, spanning the compressor, motor drive, expansion turbine and the surrounding loop.

You will write the safety interlocks and fault handling, deliver capacity control through speed rather than throttling valves, and validate the system with hardware-in-the-loop before it enters production.

Qualifications

• Experience writing control logic for rotating machinery.
• Design of safety interlocks with justifiable rationale from first principles.
• Hands-on hardware-in-the-loop testing experience and fault analysis.
• Ability to hand over well-documented control software to operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the machine control architecture for the compressor, motor drive, expansion turbine and loop.
• Write safety interlocks and fault handling for high-risk hardware.
• Deliver capacity control through motor and turbine speed, avoiding valves where possible.
• Validate the control system with hardware-in-the-loop before production use.
• Translate controls work into deployable production implementations and docs.
