Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Ladson, SC seeks a talented Controls Engineer to lead design, installation, and optimization of electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment on-site.

You will work with PLCs, servo systems, and safety circuits to meet performance and environmental standards. The role requires a STEM degree or equivalent experience, experience in high-volume manufacturing, scripting skills, and familiarity with CoBot deployments and IIoT dashboards.

Qualifications

  • College/university degree in STEM or equivalent experience; export controls licensing may apply.
  • Experience with PLCs, servo systems, actuators, and safety circuits; scripting required.
  • Manufacturing environment experience with production equipment.
  • Automation & Robotics: CoBot deployments and IIoT dashboards.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and development of control systems by contributing to specifications, layout, and component selection.
  • Assist in bench tests to validate system functionality and compliance with design requirements.
  • Modify and optimize software and equipment configurations for performance.
  • Troubleshoot control system issues and support change requests.
  • Compile cost data and inputs to support accurate estimates.
  • Analyze project requirements to develop cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide PLC-based hardware/software installation support.
  • Deliver technical documentation to improve reliability and knowledge sharing.
