Job summary

Garmac Limited LLC in Ohio and Northern Virginia is seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer to design and deliver building automation and industrial control projects from concept through startup and commissioning. This hands‑on leadership role combines controls engineering, instrumentation and electrical design, software configuration, customer collaboration, and field execution, with a small project team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
3+ years hands-on controls engineering experience including PLC/DDC/DCS/SCADA.
Experience with one or more platforms listed (Rockwell, AVEVA, Ignition, etc.).
Ability to lead technical work and coordinate project activities.
Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics.
Willingness to travel 20–40% to client sites.
U.S. work authorization required.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical lead for project teams of ~2–5 engineers.
Lead customer meetings and support estimates for hardware/engineering effort.
Develop instrument lists from P&IDs and select instrumentation and controls hardware.
Prepare submittals, control panel layouts, electrical schematics, and procurement packages.
Design and configure HMI, PLC, DCS, or SCADA control applications and algorithms.
Conduct design reviews, FAT/SAT, startup, and commissioning activities.
Train customers on system operation and provide documentation.
