Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a Construction Survey Crew Chief in Knoxville, TN to lead field geomatics for civil projects, mastering GPS and robotic instruments and coordinating with the survey team.

You will verify control, collect data, perform scanning and layout, and maintain precise field notes while adhering to safety protocols. The role requires strong communication and the ability to work outdoors year-round in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field surveying experience.
• Certified Survey Technician (CST) preferred.
• Strong technical, measurement and calculations skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all weather; capable of lifting up to 80 lbs.
• Valid driver's license; clean driving record; drug screening may be required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate GPS, robotic total station, scanning total station, and levels.
• Verify survey control and establish or re-establish as needed.
• Collect topographic and as-built data; perform rapid static sessions.
• Conduct scans for sign confirmations and limited-access areas.
• Layout of low-, intermediate-, and high-risk items per project requirements.
• Maintain complete and accurate field notes and project records; ensure safety compliance.
