Job summary

The State of Louisiana's Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) District 05 - Monroe Unit seeks a senior inspector to oversee contract administration for roadways, bridges, and public works. You will supervise a team of inspectors and ensure compliance with plans and specs.

Qualifications

This position requires a high school diploma or GED plus four years of construction inspection experience.
Six months of sub-professional engineering or heavy equipment experience plus four years in inspection or related work is acceptable.
Twenty-four college hours in engineering, construction management, or related fields may substitute for experience.
A bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology is acceptable, as is possession of an engineer intern certificate.

Responsibilities

Lead worker in a Project Engineer's Office, handling contract administration on roadways, bridges, and public works.
Provide quality assurance inspections and supervise a team of inspectors and technicians.
Serve as DOTD's principal representative on construction projects with frequent stakeholder contact.
Lead daily project operations and supervise lower-level staff.
Direct inspections of earthwork, asphalt concrete, and PCC pavement; oversee related activities.
May perform other duties including emergency or disaster response.
