Job summary

LOZIER, Inc. seeks a Chief Inspector (Construction Inspection) for a full-time, on-site role on a major NYSDOT project in Westchester County, NY.

The Chief Inspector will oversee daily inspection activities to ensure work meets plans, specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has experience with transportation projects, familiarity with NYSDOT requirements, and strong communication skills to coordinate with contractors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience on transportation projects with NYSDOT or similar agency requirements.
• NICET-IV or equivalent.
• Knowledge of AASHTOWare.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.
• Review and maintain daily inspection reports, project records, quantities, measurements, and other documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors and project stakeholders to address construction, quality, schedule, and field issues.
• Monitor materials, workmanship, testing, and construction methods.
• Support payment quantities, change orders, field changes, and project documentation.
• Promote safe work practices and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Support project closeout, punch-list activities, and final documentation.
