Job summary

Messer Construction Co. is seeking an Estimating Manager to lead detailed cost estimating for complex commercial projects in Charlotte, NC.

This role drives accuracy, profitability and timely bid submissions while coordinating with project managers, engineers and suppliers. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field and 5+ years of estimating experience, including use of Bluebeam, Sage Estimating and other estimating tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience (including co-op and internships).
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Sage Estimating).
• Demonstrated ability to oversee detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment and subs.
• Experience negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation of detailed cost estimates for construction projects (materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors).
• Analyze plans, specs and docs to prepare accurate estimates.
• Identify risks and opportunities in estimates and propose solutions.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and stakeholders to align estimates with requirements.
• Manage bid process and submission of bid proposals.
• Work with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to gather information for bids.
• Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers/subcontractors to optimize value.
• Ensure bids meet profitability targets for the company.
• Serve as primary contact for estimating inquiries from clients.
• Present estimates and bids clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field
