Job summary

Protagonist in Washington, DC seeks a data-driven role applying data science and analytic methods to open-source media and the social dynamics behind information. You will lead internal data efforts, stay hands-on with analysis and client delivery, and partner with product teams to shape Narrative Analytics™, the platform analysts use daily.

You’ll turn messy data into actionable insights, design ML/AI workflows, and mentor junior analysts while collaborating across analytics and client teams to

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative or analytical field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s or 3+ with an advanced degree.
• Hands-on experience with text-as-data: media, social media, or open-source corpora.
• Ability to explain technical work to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal data science work: design approach, ensure reproducibility and quality.
• Design ML/AI models to surface insights from large unstructured datasets.
• Translate qualitative questions into structured analytics workflows.
• Develop AI-powered workflows for classification, coding, extraction, and summarization.
• Build dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings to clients.
