The Superintendent is a seasoned field leader responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities to ensure project success, directing J.M. Cope, Inc.

employees and subcontractors to meet safety, scheduling, quality, and budget standards. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in commercial construction, exceptional communication, and the ability to lead teams effectively on high-value projects.

Qualifications

• 10 years of commercial construction experience.
• High school diploma or GED; relevant trade certifications or professional training preferred.
• Experience managing commercial/industrial projects valued at $15M+.
• Procore experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• MS Office, especially Excel.
• OSHA 30-hour, CPR, and First Aid certified.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor field staff in construction best practices.
• Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and internal teams.
• Provide leadership that promotes accountability and teamwork.
• Oversee schedules, subcontractor scopes, and contract documents.
• Ensure site setup, layout, utilities, and control points.
• Maintain field documentation (daily reports, logs, photos).
• Lead the development and execution of the Project Quality Control Plan.
• Ensure compliance with codes and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and close out testing, inspections, and punch lists.
• Liaise with third‑party inspectors and QA personnel.
• Promote a culture of jobsite safety and enforce protocols.
• Develop and maintain the Master Construction Schedule.
• Lead weekly reviews of 3‑Week Look‑Ahead Schedules.
• Coordinate procurement and subcontractor oversight.
• Communicate progress and risks to PM and leadership.
