Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is seeking teachers to deliver engaging instruction, plan lessons, assess student progress, and maintain classroom discipline in accordance with CPS policies and the Uniform Discipline Code. Qualified candidates will have completed student teaching and hold a valid Illinois teaching certificate (PEL or ELS).

Responsibilities include communicating with families, coordinating field trips, and supporting student growth through attendance, behavior, and learning

Qualifications

• Successful completion of all student teaching requirements and coursework to obtain Illinois State Board of Education teaching certificate(s).
• Knowledge of subject matter and contemporary teaching practices.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet diverse student needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional activities and prepare lesson plans aligned with objectives.
• Evaluate pupil progress and maintain accurate records of achievement.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and behavior.
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional development.
