Job description

  • On-site position at an Alpha campus: Austin, TX
  • Dallas, TX
  • Fort Worth, TX
  • Oklahoma City, OK
  • $150,000 annual W2 salary, paid weekly. Health benefits begin day one.
  • Relocation assistance provided

The kindest thing you can tell a student who scored 99% is that they haven't yet passed.

Not because perfection is the goal. Because believing in someone's ability to improve is one of the most respectful things you can do.

Traditional schools shield students from failure. Alpha equips them for success. We know that confidence doesn't emerge from lowered expectations. It develops when students accomplish things they previously believed impossible. This principle guides everything we do.

Our approach is intentionally distinct. Students achieve academic mastery independently through AI-driven learning, which allows adults to concentrate on the work that transforms lives: coaching character, cultivating resilience, nurturing leadership, and establishing the habits that produce remarkable results. We don't require adults to transmit information. We require leaders who understand how to unlock human potential.

This position is central to that objective. You'll cultivate the Guides who interact directly with students, transforming them into outstanding coaches rather than traditional instructors. You'll facilitate life skills workshops that students recall years afterward. You'll analyze performance data to pinpoint where students or Guides are underperforming and coach them toward excellence. You'll also oversee your own student cohort, demonstrating the same standards you require from others.

The impact is substantial. Each Guide you develop influences dozens of students. Every enhancement you introduce to campus culture multiplies across hundreds of young lives. Success isn't defined by meeting attendance or report generation. It's defined by whether students grow more confident, disciplined, resilient, and capable because of the environment you helped create.

This position isn't for someone seeking to maintain the existing education system. It's for someone who believes young people deserve better than compliance, seat time, and mediocre expectations. If you're motivated by coaching people through challenging obstacles, leveraging data to inform decisions, and maintaining high standards because you truly believe others can meet them, this role will suit you.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Develop and coach Guides to execute Alpha's coaching model with consistency, enthusiasm, and rigorous standards.
  • Facilitate dynamic life skills workshops addressing communication, focus, feedback, leadership, and resilience for K-8 students using established playbooks.
  • Analyze student and Guide performance data to surface coaching opportunities, eliminate obstacles, and produce measurable weekly improvements.
  • Conduct motivation sessions that enable every student to embrace ambitious goals and reliably accomplish them.
  • Oversee your own student cohort while exemplifying the coaching quality and accountability you require from all Guides.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Instructing academic subjects. Students complete core academics independently using AI-powered learning platforms.
  • Developing lesson plans or designing curriculum. Your responsibility is outstanding coaching, not producing instructional content.
  • Controlling classrooms through lectures, worksheets, or behavior management systems. Students direct their own learning, and you coach the behaviors that enable achievement.
  • Reducing expectations to sidestep challenging conversations. Rigorous standards and authentic belief in every student's capability are inseparable.
  • Defining success by activity rather than outcomes. Results carry more weight than effort by itself.
Lead Coach Key Responsibilities

Create a coaching culture in which outstanding Guides reliably develop students who love school, achieve academic mastery at an accelerated rate, and cultivate the resilience, leadership, and life skills necessary to thrive well beyond the classroom.

Basic Requirements
  • Able to work on campus in Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Fort Worth, TX; or Oklahoma City, OK (relocation assistance available).
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Business, Organizational Leadership, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, youth leadership, or related area.
  • Experience managing an ongoing team of five or more adults, with final or primary authority to select members and make performance-based termination decisions.
  • Sustained, recurring accountability for the learning, behavior, motivation, or development of children ages 5-14 in an educational, developmental, athletic, or youth leadership environment.
  • Demonstrated history of building, launching, or substantially expanding a program, team, school, business, or initiative from inception, rather than simply sustaining or inheriting one.
  • Confirmed ability to apply performance metrics and data to identify problems, prioritize initiatives, and achieve measurable outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in a school that intentionally rejects conventional pedagogy.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-have Requirements
  • Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or related discipline.
  • Experience in athletic coaching, outdoor or experiential education leadership, camp direction, youth programs, or other cohort-based organizations.
  • Experience creating or managing innovative education, EdTech, tutoring, nonprofit, or learning initiatives outside conventional classroom instruction.
  • Personal background of outstanding achievement in academics, athletics, entrepreneurship, or leadership.
  • Deep belief that education should cultivate capable, resilient, independent young people rather than merely transmit academic material.
