Job summary

Personalis is seeking a CLS Supervisor to oversee clinical laboratory testing, reporting, and QA processes in a fast-paced environment. The role includes supervision of team members, ensuring proper specimen handling, NGS workflows, and accurate patient record maintenance.

You will gain hands-on experience across benches, coordinate pre- and post-analytical tasks with lab assistants, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a dynamic setting at our Fremont facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in sciences or related field.
• Valid California CLS or CGMBS license.
• At least four years CLS experience in a clinical laboratory; minimum 1 year in a lead role.
• Experience with manual DNA/RNA extractions and library preparation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and report clinical laboratory testing on patient samples to aid physicians diagnose and treat patients, including extractions, library preparation, enrichments, and sequencing.
• Handle and process patient specimens per procedures with accurate record-keeping and reporting.
• Select, implement, and evaluate quality control materials for statistical process control of assays.
• Troubleshoot assays and equipment when QC materials fail to perform as expected.
• Document corrective actions when test systems deviate from specs.
• Assist in audits by regulatory bodies like CAP and external customers.
• Participate in licensure-related quality management and inspections.
• Train CLS and lab personnel; monitor activities of non-licensed staff.
• Provide guidance on troubleshooting and deviation investigations.
• Assist in assay development activities.
