Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Security Engineer for Cloud Threat Hunting to secure the firm’s public cloud adoption. You will partner with product, engineering, and risk teams to embed secure-by-design principles, drive cloud-focused threat hunts, and translate findings into actionable security outcomes.

The role emphasizes threat modeling, cloud security posture management, and cross-functional leadership within a large enterprise.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on cybersecurity concepts with 5+ years of experience (e.g., Security+, CEH, CCSP, CISSP).
• Hands-on cloud-native experience across major cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/Google Cloud) with cloud security certification.
• Experience with threat modeling methodologies and risk-based security assessments.
• Experience with cloud security posture management tooling (Wiz, Prisma Cloud, CrowdStrike Falcon).
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code frameworks (Terraform, CloudFormation) and their security implications.
• Ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives without direct authority.
• Strong prioritization and risk-based decision-making across competing demands.
• Ability to think beyond conventional approaches to build innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders across product, engineering, and risk teams to embed secure-by-design principles in cloud architectures.
• Develop, plan, and execute cloud-focused threat hunts; translate findings into detections, alert tuning, and compensating controls.
• Apply tooling to analyze large datasets to identify threats and risk patterns.
• Deliver threat models and risk assessments to inform architecture decisions.
• Review infrastructure-as-code for security alignment with firm standards.
• Develop preventive and detective controls across cloud environments at scale.
• Coordinate with security operations, threat intel, and incident response to operationalize detections.
• Provide guidance on cloud threat landscape and emerging risks for strategic decisions.
• Contribute to documentation and agile processes to drive consistency.
