About the role - you will:

We are looking for a passionate, dynamic and customer-focused Cloud Software Engineer to join our Lyve organization. The candidate should have a strong technical background in distributed systems design and cloud engineering approaches. The right candidate should have a demonstrable track record of successfully developing cloud architecture frameworks, designing, and delivering modern cloud data platform solutions, cloud migrations, and cloud-native solutions.

  1. Implement and define overall architecture of the Lyve Cloud. Lead and coach a small engineering group.
  2. Stay abreast of cloud technology trends, advancements, and best practices.
  3. Foster engineering culture. Build and maintain architecture artifacts, design processes and best practices, provide technical oversight to architects and engineers.
  4. Prototype solutions and develop proof-of-concept.
  5. Promote cross-functional collaboration and engineering excellence.
About you:
  1. Experienced with agile development process and methodologies.
  2. Strong knowledge of cloud service engineering stack, cloud technology trends, cloud development tools, cloud migration and management.
  3. Deep understanding of distributed architectures, containers and serverless technologies.
  4. Hands-on with CI/CD, SRE, cloud tooling, DevOps, Networking and testing approaches.
  5. Proven hands-on experience with large scale distributed technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, MySQL, Mongo, Cassandra, K8S, Chef, Splunk, Elastic, and Hadoop.
  6. Hands-on coding experience in the following languages: GoLang, Java, C/C++, Python, etc.
  7. Exceptional collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to work in a global environment and drive consensus in cross-functional teams.
  8. Outstanding communication ability to a diverse customer audience, executives, product, and technology stakeholders.
  9. Strong relationship management skills.
  10. Fast learner on both technical and business side.
  11. Strong customer-centric mindset.
  12. Comfortable operating in a matrix setup.
  13. Proactive, demonstrating a sense of urgency and 'can do' attitude.
  14. Detail and results-oriented, able to analyze data to justify decisions and apply key learnings.
  15. Ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities.
  16. Excellent verbal and written communications and presentations skills.
  17. Use technical expertise and visionary capabilities to ensure the Lyve cloud platform services are a key differentiator for Seagate, driving the engineering vision and strategy for platform design and delivery.
  18. Understand the business domain and product vision; partner with other team members to align the work of the team toward shared goals for the product.
  19. Support team members in addressing or escalating issues to enhance overall team efficiency.
  20. Coach and evaluate the performance and quality of work delivered by team members, creating a motivating and respectful work environment.
  21. Provide relevant technical coaching and support to team members. Participate in recruiting processes.
  22. Participate in the development of business and/or technology vision, strategies, critical success factors, and operating plans for application, unit, or platform.
  23. Strong track record of delivering results and effectively prioritizing and managing multiple competing priorities with various stakeholders.
  24. Experience leading Architecture/Principal level engineers.
  25. Experience leading cloud utilization optimization efforts.
  26. Experience leading cloud security architects and compliance efforts.
  27. Lead by example to establish a culture of technical expertise and operational accountability.
  28. Sponsor and support cloud governance initiatives, establishing standards, cost monitoring, and security/compliance efforts.
  29. Identify and prioritize technical initiatives to align and integrate with business goals.
Your experience includes:
  1. Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD degree in computer science preferred, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. Career experience building enterprise storage services and cloud platforms.

Seagate is able to offer virtual employment for this position in the following states: AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $216,000 - $320,000. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible employees, including, but not limited to, eligibility to participate in discretionary bonus program, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short-and long-term disability, 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, health savings account, dependent care, and healthcare spending accounts. Seagate also offers paid time off, including 12 holidays, flexible time off provided pursuant to Seagate policy, a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave, and 16 weeks of paid parental leave. The benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location.
