Job summary

Panera Bread Company is seeking a hands-on Lead Cloud Data Engineer to design, build, and operate enterprise data platforms on Google Cloud Platform. You will bridge enterprise architecture with delivery, mentor a team of engineers, and ensure scalable, secure data solutions across operational and analytical use cases.

You will collaborate with architects, product owners, and stakeholders to drive data product delivery, governance, and platform efficiency, while exploring AI-enabled capabilities

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering and cloud data solutions.
• Hands-on design and delivery of large-scale data platforms on GCP.
• Deep expertise with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Python, SQL, and Pandas.
• Experience with IaC, CI/CD and cloud cost optimization.
• Strong collaboration with architects, product owners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy large-scale data pipelines on GCP.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of data engineers.
• Drive batch, real-time, and streaming pipelines aligned with enterprise standards.
• Translate enterprise patterns into secure, scalable, production-ready solutions.
• Enforce engineering best practices: reviews, CI/CD, governance, and release management.
• Own and improve platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
