Job summary

University Health seeks a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist Lead to deliver comprehensive pharmacotherapy services, optimizing therapeutic outcomes within a designated practice area. The Lead serves as a pharmacotherapy expert on the care team and will develop guidelines and policies for practice.

The role includes department leadership, scheduling, recruitment and retention, performance evaluation, and education for pharmacists and trainees, while aligning with Texas state regulations.

Qualifications

• Pharm.D. degree or B.S. in Pharmacy from ACPE-accredited school.
• Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Pharmacy Residency with at least 3 years of experience in specialty area or equivalent (PGY1 plus 5 additional years; or 8 years total with at least 5 years in specialty area) in health-system pharmacy.
• Current Pharmacy and Pharmacy Preceptor licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the state of Texas; Board Certification in a relevant specialty.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, pharmacotherapy consults, and medication-related education to patients and team members.
• Lead department initiatives within the specialty area, organizing initiatives and providing education for pharmacy colleagues and trainees.

Education

A Pharm.D. degree or a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy is required.
